#21: Flood Tunnels
If anyone has seen Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings, and you probably have, more specifically The Fellowship of the Ring, they’ll be familiar with the hall of Dwarrowdelf in the mines of Moria underneath the frosty peaks of Misty Mountains. Just kidding, this is in Japan.
Sorry, I know I had most of you going there for a while, and you thought this was a picture of Middle-earth. In fact, these are not mines but flood tunnels designed to catch excess water and prevent flooding above the surface. Like I said – you have to hand it to the Japanese.
