#14: Ahead of His Time
To our modern eyes, this map doesn’t seem remarkable. We’re used to seeing our cities from above, whether on the old road maps we used to take on road trips or from staring down at Google Maps on our smartphones and tablets.
Yet, while this just looks like an old map to us, it contains significant technological advancement. Leonardo Da Vinci made this accurate map of the Italian town of Imola in 1502 using only rulers and protractors. Somehow, I don’t think he had satellite imagery to help.
