#31: Traveling by Blimp
Traveling by blimp never took off in the same way as airplanes did once they were invented. The first blimp was invented in 1852, 51 years before the Wright brothers would debut their airborne invention. Believe it or not, blimps were praised as the future of travel. People could suddenly travel across the world in a short amount of time. It was amazing!

This rare photo shows people boarding a commercial blimp flight. Yes, people used to actually travel on blimps the same way we travel on airplanes. This photo shows how giant these floating machines were, especially compared to their human passengers. Sadly, the Hindenburg disaster of 1937 pretty much brought an end to blimps as a means of commercial transportation.
