#26: This Book Bench at the Library of Alexandria in Egypt
History buffs know the Great Library of Alexandria was among the largest libraries in the ancient world. Fire destroyed it, but the University of Alexandria wanted to revive it, and it was reborn. This unique bench is the result of an architectural design competition.
It is an impressive work of art fashioned by the Norwegian architectural studio Snohetta. Several Shakespeare poems are inscribed on the bench. A bench that looks like a book is a piece of art popular with tourists and visitors to the library. The bench is a book lover’s dream.
