Like Flies to Honey
We all despise those pesky flies that bother us while we spend time outside, but not all of us have a great way to deal with those pests short of dousing ourselves with bug spray. But in ancient Egypt, bug repellents had not yet been invented, so pharaohs had to find cleverer ways of keeping the flies from ruining their royal day.

The method they chose was not the most humane by today’s standards. Their approach was to cover their servants in honey, which was very successful at attracting all of the flies. Once their servants were sticky and stuck in a swarm, the pharaoh was free to enjoy a fly-free experience.
