#4: Breaking Under Pressure
While many valedictorians go on to fulfill what’s expected of them, sometimes the pressure becomes too much. The constant perfectionism, the pressure for good grades, and the overwhelming expectations take their toll. Many studies have been done on gifted children who basically just checked out once they graduated.

Not all of them turn to drugs and alcohol, but a good many of them suffer from anxiety and depression. This was probably his way of coping with the successes and failures. Either that or maybe he was having a really good time, and it all got out of hand. You never know!
