A brutal home life can wreak havoc on your future, but it doesn’t have to define you. I bet it felt fantastic for both the teacher and the student when they landed those scholarships.

It sounds like they had to leave their family behind to become successful, but sometimes it needs to be done. Hopefully, they also got therapy and worked through the underlying issues that abuse can cause. Otherwise, it’s still a vicious cycle, money or not. Here’s to hoping!
