Power in Numbers
The Bear Jew, aka Donny Donowitz, is one of the most memorable heroes in Inglourious Basterds (2009). Played by actor Eli Roth, this character gained his nickname for his notorious use of his signature baseball bat. There is a dramatic scene where he emerges from the shadows to kill a German officer captured by the Basterds. Some people would say it takes him too long to emerge from the tunnel.
The Bear Jew knocks his bat against the wall 28 times as he makes his way out of the dark tunnel. This number is significant because it references the Hebrew word for Strength. This word equals 28 in Gematria, which is the Kabbalistic method of assigning a numerical value to letters and words. Nothing is coincidental in Tarantino films.
