Hidden in Plain Sight
Throughout Kill Bill Volume 1, The Bride’s real name is bleeped out and never revealed. This creates an element of mystery to Uma Thurman’s character. Tarantino also breaks the fourth wall by hiding The Bride’s true identity because it pulls us into the mystery of the character trying to remain anonymous while she exacts revenge on people from her past. However, sharp viewers can notice The Bride’s true identity before it’s officially revealed in Kill Bill Volume 2.
The Bride’s real name, Beatrix Kiddo, is written on her boarding pass and can be seen quickly when she is boarding a plane to Japan. Beatrix Kiddo’s unique name was a collaborative effort. Uma Thurman came up with the first part of her character’s name, and Quentin Tarantino added the last name.
