Uma, Please Report to Baggage Claim
Bringing anything that could be used as a weapon through airport security seems wild and dangerous in our modern world. In Quentin Tarantino’s fantasy world and universe, however, a blade-carrying character is pretty commonplace. We see this in action in Kill Bill: Volume 1 with The Bride, played by Uma Thurman.
When The Bride is traveling between Okinawa and Tokyo, she brings her Katana blade on board with her. Tarantino adds an element of dark humor to this scene by having Thurman place her blade in the specially designated sword holder next to her airplane seat. Leave it to Tarantino to cover all his bases with set design.
