Fact: Chaotic Food
Food facts aren’t just rosy and interesting. As was common with a lot of manufacturing plants in older times, food creation facilities had the potential of malfunctioning. Some disasters were far worse than others. In fact, Boston was hit with one such food catastrophe that turned into a major historical event.
In 1919, a storage tank exploded, releasing over two million gallons of molasses that were being stored inside. It actually caused a significant amount of damage to the streets and buildings of the city. Unfortunately, 21 fatalities and 150 injuries were reported on the day. When food accidents happen, they have the potential for major consequences!
