Fact: An Odd Kind of Jell-O
Jell-O has been a staple of the American food palette for decades. There was a point in time where if there was a food item, there was a good chance there was a recipe of it suspended in gelatin! What you might not have realized is that some foods were actually introduced suspended in gelatin.
One such creation was known as the sequin salad: a salad suspended in Jell-O! It was a combination of red peppers, cauliflower, and lime Jell-O that was first introduced in the 1950s. They were soaked in vinegar before being added to the gelatin. We guess people wanted everything suspended in Jell-O back then, but it’s a good thing this fad is behind us. We only want our staples in Jell-O, thank you.
