There has been a buzz around AI taking people’s jobs. Well, even famous actors have fallen victim to AI replacing their unique skills. Well, kind of. James Earl Jones of Star Wars fame no longer voices his iconic Darth Vader role. The actor is well into his 90s, so he didn’t want to reprise his role in 2022. That didn’t stop Disney.

With his permission, Disney hired an AI company named Respeecher to create an AI-generated version of Darth Vader’s voice. From now on, any new Star Wars movies or TV shows will feature AI James Earl Jones. The famous actor has allowed Disney to use his voice to “keep Vader alive.” Honestly, you can’t even tell the difference. It’s kind of freaky.
