Beta Fish are a group of animals that consist of all gill-bearing, aquatic craniate organisms that lack limbs with digits.
The Beta Fish originated from the bony fish lineage which typically have a skeleton or cartilage skeleton. This has been confirmed by fossils that were found with features in common with Beta Fish.
The most notable feature is their paired fins. These fins can be one or two lobed and located on either sides of the body or on top of the body near the head area. Another example of this would be a tuna fish.

There are about 45 different species of Beta Fish that have been identified and several subspecies. The number keeps growing as new varieties of the fish are discovered in remote areas. One example is a variety found in Indonesia, the Green Labeo.
The diet of all Beta Fish consists mainly of plants, algae, and small aquatic animals. The meat-eater species are able to consume nearly any kind of animal that is small enough to fit in their mouth. These include water worms, insects, and smaller fish.
It is believed that there will be additional species identified through further studies including the habitat and feeding habits of these Beta Fish species.

How to Care for your Beta Fish
Beta Fish have very simple needs and are fairly easy to care for. First, you will need to choose a fish tank that is appropriate for the size of your Beta Fish. A good rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water.
For the plant life in your fish tank, you will need to choose plants that are suitable for the temperature of your home. The temperature range is 65-72 degrees Fahrenheit. You want to avoid putting in plants that require special care because it can be difficult for a beginner to keep them alive.
For feed, Beta Fish will eat flakes and pellets made specifically for them. If you want to feed them live food, make sure that the prey is small enough for them to consume without difficulty. You will need to clean your fish tank regularly and change the water once a week as well. These are just basic tips to help get you started.

Beta Fish are an excellent pet for people of all ages. They are pretty easy to care for and don’t cause a lot of problems. If you are interested in Beta Fish, it is probably a good idea to do some research before choosing a beta fish as your first pet.
