#42: Small Talk Connoisseur
Elevators are a breeding ground for awkward moments. What else is expected to happen when strangers have to stand together in a tiny box? Most people avoid eye contact like the plague, but this person attempted to break through that social norm with the advice of a friend’s kid. The kid adorably suggested saying, “Would you like to come up and see my hamster?” as an ice breaker, which is pretty darn cute and funny.
Later that day, they stumbled upon the perfect opportunity to talk to a stranger in an elevator. She tried telling the cute story about the kid to the maintenance guy in the elevator with her, but it totally backfired. Naturally, he thought she was propositioning him and quickly made his escape. Mentioning a hamster is adorable coming from a little kid? Definitely. Coming from a grown adult? Absolutely not.
