35. I’ll Take the Salad With the… Marshmallows?
Ambrosia Salad is a uniquely American creation. It is a fruit salad often made with various kinds of canned fruit and topped with whipped cream, marshmallows, and other creamy-type things to make it into a sweet dressing. It is definitely more of a dessert salad; it is not recommended for those on a diet, either.

On the other hand, in Israel, you can find the famously fine-chopped salads, dubbed Israeli salad outside the country. This salad consists mostly of tomatoes and cucumbers, sometimes with bits of raw pepper, cabbage, onion, or parsley. This is a very big contrast to salad, as the sugar addiction in the US runs deep. We just couldn’t keep ourselves from turning even salads into desserts, could we?
