The message on this church’s digital message board isn’t super creepy on its own. The thing that makes it creepy is the message board itself. The sign reads, “God is in control.” That’s a pretty common refrain that people hear in church. The thing is, the sign is an ominous red color, and part of it is broken.

The tear in the digital screen makes this simple message look downright dystopian and apocalyptic. “God is in control” isn’t a supportive message in this situation. It looks like more of a scary message from a scary movie! Calvary Assembly better fix their announcement screen soon, or their attendance might go down.
