#21: A Gas Mask for Horses
This historical photograph has a creepy edge to it. It’s even creepier when you realize that this is a real 1940 photograph that was taken in England. World War II was a scary time for many, including animals. Gas masks for horses were invented to protect them from any possible gaseous weapons or attacks.
This photo shows a man leading a horse forced to wear one of these eerie headpieces. A gas mask for a horse is bound to look creepy no matter what because it’s not something we see every day. This photo is all the more eerie when you think about the realities of how people lived during WWII.
