#13: Wide Open Spaces
Public restrooms are vulnerable spaces. When nature calls, we have to subject ourselves to a semi-private space to perform a very private bodily function. It’s for this reason that a lot of people prefer single-occupancy restrooms. You get the whole restroom to yourself, and it’s way more private. However, there’s something about this restroom that gives us the creeps.

On the surface, there’s nothing technically wrong with this restroom. It looks incredibly clean and well-maintained. So, what’s the problem? There’s something about the size of this room that throws us off-kilter. It’s too long, too narrow, and way too big. The space between the toilet and the sink is so large that it probably leaves people feeling more vulnerable than if they were in a public restroom stall.
