#37: No Milk for Your Kitty
No one seems to believe me when I share this fact with friends, so I am glad it has appeared on this list. Despite the media portraying cats as lovers of a fine saucer full of milk, they are, in fact, lactose intolerant. If you ever tried giving milk to your cat, just know he probably wasn’t so excited about that!
As is true of humans, cats are able to consume their mother’s milk without issue while they are still young. However, as is also true of humans, they begin to lose the enzymes that break down milk as they get older. The same phenomenon also appears to be true of dogs.
