#19: A 3D Cast
3D printers aren’t just for making random toys and useless, funny inventions. These tools also bring a lot of value and innovation to the medical field. This guy broke his arm and was surprised to receive a special 3D-printed cast. This is a really neat way to use this affordable technology. Plus, it looks much more comfortable than a traditional cast.
According to the original poster of this photo, the cast is waterproof and was made to measure. At the doctor’s office, they took a scan of his arm using an app and then had it printed over the course of three days. This is still a new technology, so it is not common in most doctor’s offices. However, it’s a pretty cool look into the future of medicine and the possibilities of 3D printing.
