#10: That One Random Neighborhood Store
This storyteller can’t help but wonder how all the random stores in the world stay afloat. They’re talking about those random stores that sell tchotchkes and bric-a-brac no one actually wants in their homes. Sure, tourists might buy a magnet or two, but is that really enough to sustain a business?
While their existence is bewildering, it’s also kind of comforting. There’s something familiar about these kinds of stores that makes your town feel like home. Of course, that random corner store below the downtown apartment building is open seven days a week. Does anyone need a Santa figurine and a Hawaiian shirt in the middle of October? No, but it’s nice to know you have the option.
