41. Nonprofit Worker
Nonprofit workers surely have hearts of gold. There’s a good chance they believe in the mission of their organizations so much that they would probably work for free if they could. But, they can’t. Nonprofit workers have rent, car payments, food to buy, and families to raise. Working for free is not an option.
Historically speaking, nonprofit workers do tend to make less than positions that use the same skill sets. Nonprofit workers already make sacrifices that other jobs don’t require. If you suggest they work without pay, they have plenty of reasons to argue another point of view. Just ask them! They’ll be glad to tell you about their long days.
