In 1948, a man in Florida decided to play an elaborate prank on America’s citizens by creating giant penguin feet and walking the beaches. By February of the same year, a man walking along the coast in Clearwater, Florida, stumbled upon an unexpectedly large footprint in the sand.

The footprints, similar to those of a giant penguin, were roughly 14 inches long and 11 inches wide.
